Synopsis

Adapted from the most outstanding collection of Chinese classical short stories. Pu Songling, a scholar, stays overnight at Lanruo Temple. He is caught by two monsters, Toad and Turtle, and brought to the bottom of an ancient well to judge the quality of his stories. In a temple, a well, and a tree, classic chapters of Strange Stories, such as The Taoist Priest of Mount Laoshan, Lotus Princess, Nie Xiaoqian, Painted Skin, and Lady Lu, unfold one after another across the vicissitudes of life.
